At A Plus Garage Doors, we know that a functional garage is an important amenity for many Utah homes. We also know that a sensor is a critical part of modern mechanical garage doors that needs to be functioning properly.
Due to the fact that most sensors are located near the ground, there is a high probability that they will be knocked around and get dirty, especially with kids running in and out of the garage and being so close to the elements, outside. For this reason, our technicians pride themselves in being proficient in all aspects of fixing a garage.
How to Test If Your Sensor Needs to Be Fixed
Due to how exposed garage sensors are, they are one of the most common garage parts that frequently needs to be repaired. However, just because a one isn’t working, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it needs to be fixed, immediately. You can tell if your garage door sensor needs to be checked by following these steps:
- Wipe off the glass of the sensor. If it is dirty, sometimes it may get confused and frequently think there is an obstruction, when there clearly isn’t.
- Check the LED light on the component. If it is flashing or is incredibly dim, then it is likely that the two sensors are not aligned properly on the track.
- Check if the wires in the back are connected, but don’t attempt to reconnect these wires yourself.
If you are unsure of what the problem is, don’t hesitate to give one of our knowledgeable technicians a call!
